Kashmiri truck driver found dead inside his truck in Mizoram

In a deeply distressing incident, a Kashmiri truck driver was found dead under mysterious  conditions in Mizoram India.

Rafiq Ahmad, a truck driver from Karnah in Kupwara, was found dead inside his truck in Mizoram on Sunday morning.

As per reports reaching The Kashmiriyat, at least seven trucks from the valley had parked their trucks at a petrol filling station in Vairengte on Saturday night.

On Sunday morning, Bashir Ahmed, another truck driver from Kupwara found blood coming out of the truck bearing the registration number JK05 E 7668.

“Following this the truck drivers forcibly opened the doors of the truck and saw the blood drenched body of 35-year-old Rafiq inside the truck,” Nazir Ahmed, Bashir’s brother informed The Kashmiriyat.

He said that Bashir and other drivers then went to the Police station and complained to the Police regarding the incident. “He is still being questioned by the Mizoram Police,” he said.

Though the cause of the death was not immediately known, but Rafiq’s body was found bruised and his face severely bleeding.

A shocking video available with The Kashmiriyat shows Rafiq Ahmad, a truck driver from Karnah, lying dead with his face in a pool of blood inside his truck. “We think it is plain murder and we seek a thorough investigation into the incident,” said Nazir Ahmad, a relative of the deceased.

 

Families of both victims have gathered in Srinagar, demanding the transportation of Rafiq Ahmad’s body. “It will take us several days to reach Mizoram. We request the Truck Union to help us bring the body back swiftly,” he appealed.

Hilal Ahmed Malik, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Truck Owners Welfare Union (JKTOWU) said that it was tragic that Kashmiri truck drivers were being constantly attacked outside Kashmir.

He expressed heartfelt condolences to Rafiq Ahmad’s family and expressed fervent hope for the safe return of Bashir Ahmad Khan.

Malik urged authorities to take immediate and decisive action to apprehend the perpetrators.

“We seek the enhancement safety measures for truck drivers who face significant risks in their line of work,” Hilal said.

35-year-old Rafiq Ahmed Khan son of Farid Ahmed Khan is survived by two daughters and one son, Nazir told The Kashmiriyat.
