Kashmiri youth cracks Indian Statistical Services exam, second Kashmiri in nearly three decades

Syed Adil Zahoor has become the second individual from Kashmir to qualify for the famed Indian Statistical Services test.

The Union Public Service Commission on Wednesday released the results of the UPSC IES/ISS Final Result exam.

A resident of the Haijbal area in Baramulla district, Zahoor is currently posted as an accounts assistant at the Block Development Office in Ghaziabad. He was successful on his first try at the test.

Zahoor attended the Middle School in Hajibal for his primary education and the Central High School in Baramulla for his secondary education. He comes from a low-income family.

He attended Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Baramulla for his upper secondary education before transferring to Government Degree College Boys in Baramulla to get his bachelor’s degree in arts.

Zahoor pursued a Master’s degree from Kashmir University, and as a result, he was eligible for the 2020 Junior Research Fellowship.

He received his current position after passing the Jammu Kashmir Services Selection Board’s examination for accounts assistant in 2021.
