Mateen Teli from north Kashmir’s Sopore has been selected as a net bowler for the England test cricket team ahead of their second test against the New Zealand at Trent Bridge stadium.
News reports said that the 23-year-old took two wickets, which included the wicket of England’s Jonny Bairstow. He also took the wicket of Zak Crawley top-order English batsman.
The Kashmiri youth, who was rejected by Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association, has received praise from England’s coach Paul Collingwood.
Quoting his family, local news agency, Kashmir Despatch said, that this development took place a few days ago and was a moment of joy for the entire Kashmir.
The news agency also spoke to Mateen who said that he was excited to prove his ability and capability in the nets as this really was a golden opportunity for him “Hard work never goes waste and one should believe in self and prove his skills.”
Muteen said that Kashmiri youth should focus on their career and should not leave any stone unturned, till they achieve any milestone.
