Kashmiri youth Zahid Hussain shines with silver at Asian Shooting Championship

Zahid Hussain, hailing from Anantnag, achieved a remarkable feat on Sunday by securing the silver medal at the prestigious Asian Shooting Championship held in South Korea.

The Jammu Kashmir Sports Council, previously known as Twitter, took to social media to celebrate his achievement, saying, “Let’s give a round of applause and extend our congratulations to Zahid Hussain from Anantnag, who clinched the silver medal at the Asian Shooting Championship in South Korea.”

It’s worth noting that the Asian Shooting Championships in 2023 hold immense significance, as they serve as a qualifying event for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.

This event offers a total of 24 Olympic quotas, with the top two finishers from each country in the 12 Olympic shooting events securing spots for their national teams.

Zahid Hussain’s silver medal win not only brings pride to Anantnag but also positions him closer to the possibility of representing his nation on the international stage at the Paris Olympics.
