Kathua Police in an attempt to help women facing harassment, abuse, or violence launched a women help desk at Lakhanpur.
In a media briefing about the initiative ASI Asha Rani said all the complaints of women will be solved within 24 hours.
They said, “We have been provided with 2 mobile phones, 1 camera, and 1 bike. Soon a helpline number of this Women Help Desk will be issued. With this help desk, the females can easily register a case and they will be assisted by us”.
SSP Kathua Shailendra Mishra while talking to the media said, “The police force keeps bringing new changes in their working as per the need of time. Many times we have seen the woman hesitate while complaining in front of a male officer. So looking at the need of the hour we have selected 5 Police Stations in Kathua where we will be starting the Women Help Desk. After Lakhanpur we will be going to Hira Nagar, Raj Bhag, and 2-3 Police Stations in far-flung areas. The desk will function under only female cops. Within a week this help desk will start functioning”.
