Kishtwar Tragedy- Massive Rescue Operations on- Live Updates

In a tragic incident, at least fourty people went missing after a major cloudburst in the Kishtwar area of the chenab valley in Jammu Kashmir.

An official told The Kashmiriyat said that on Wednesday morning, a cloudburst has occurred in village Honjar Dacchan around 25KM away from the main town of Kishtwar in which at least fourty people have been reported missing.

The official said that immediately a team of SDRF Team along with the Jammu Kashmir Police and Indian Army launched a massive rescue operation in the area.

As per the official, seven dead bodies have been recovered so far while twelve injured persons have also been rescued so far, while rescue efforts were going on.

The official said that at least six residential houses, one ration depot and a bridge at Kiyar have also been damaged due to flash floods, triggered by a cloudburst

1:45 PM: Waterlevel in Chenab river may rise due to cloudburst at 50 km upstream of Kiru in Kishtwar district. Due to this, emergent flushing from Salal reservoir may be done at any time. People are advised not to go near riverbanks: NHPC Limited.
