Kulgam Encounter- Militant from Shopian’s Alamgunj among slain

Two militants have been killed during the encounter in the Wokay area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.

The officials said that 09 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and the 18th battalion of CRPF had been fired upon by militants during a cordon and search operation in the Kulgam area.

The forces had received inputs about militant presence in the area, the official told The Kashmiriyat.

During the exchange of gunfire, two militants have been killed, Police said, adding, “The slain militants are yet to be identified.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Mohammed Amir Wani son of Abdul Satar Wani, who was a resident of Alamgunj area of Shopian district of South Kashmir had gone missing from his home on 27 September, 2021 has been killed during the encounter.

The second militant has been identified as Sameer Ahmed Khan son of Abdul Hamid Khan, who was a resident of Tiken area of Pulwama joined militant on 03 August 2021.

However, official confirmation is awaited regarding the identification of Sameer.

Sameer Ahmad Khan and Mohammed Amir Wani, affiliates of TRF have been killed during the encounter.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that one AK 47 rifle, one pistol along with rounds, magazines have been recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, one house belonging to Abdul Hameed Bhat son of Khazar Mohammed Bhat has been damaged during the encounter.
