Kupwara Mourns the Death of Its Sons- Thousands gather for Funerals

People on Thursday turned up in large numbers for the funeral prayers of Bilal Ahmed Shah and Zahoor of Mir, two slain Militants killed by government forces in a gunfight in North Kashmir’s Kupwara District earlier today.

Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that thousands of people participated in last rites of Two Local Militants killed in thegunfight that had raged in the Khumriyal area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara District on Thursday.

One of the slain Militant identified as 28 Year old, Bilal Ahmed from Shat Muqam area of Lolab in Kupwara District of North Kashmir.

Bilal who was orphaned at an early age was a supplier at the fruit mandi in Srinagar for the past few years before he joined Hizb ul Mujahideen in March, His father Shams-u-din Shah, was a militant and was killed in an encounter in Kupwara in 1992.

Another Militant identified as Zahoor Ahmed Mir, a resident of Thayan, Kalroosa area in Kupwara District, had reportedly joined the Hizb ul Mujahideen on 07 July 2018, as told by The Kashmiriyat earlier in a detailed story about 16 youth recruited into Hizb.

Immediately after the news of the local Militants being killed in the encounter, Internet services were shut in the district and shoppers in many areas downed their shutters.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that People including children and women thronged the native village of Zahoor Mir at Thyana Kalaroose and There were about seven rounds of funeral prayers before he was laid to rest in his native graveyard amid pro-freedom slogans.
