‘Launching commander’ of Hizbul Mujahideen killed by unknown gunman in Pakistan

Hizb ul Mujahideen’s launching commander, Bashir Ahmad Peer alias Imtiyaz Alam, was killed in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi on Monday evening.

According to reports in Pakistani local media, an unknown assailant shot at Imtiyaz from point-blank range outside a shop in Rawalpindi, killing the top Hizb commander who was wanted in India.

A resident of Kupwara district in north Kashmir, Narendra Modi government designated Peer as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in October last year.

He was involved in providing logistics to the banned outfits, especially for infiltration into the Kupwara district in Jammu Kashmir.
