LeT militant killed in ongoing Shopian encounter

One militant has been killed during the encounter that broke out between militants and Government forces in the Baskuchan area of Imam Sahib tehsil in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Earlier an official told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday morning 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area.

The cordon continued for nearly two to three hours, during which the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter.

During the exchange of gunfire, one militant was killed, was identified as Naseer Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Nowpora Baskuchan village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

One AK 47 rifle and ammunition have been recovered near the encounter site.
