Locals on Thursday prevented a woman from committing suicide in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that locals spotted the woman attempting to jump into the river Jhelum at Jamia bridge in Sopore, when they rushed and rescued the woman.
“After noticing her doubtful movement, locals rushed towards her and foiled her suicide attempt”, an official said.
The locals later handed over the woman to Jammu Kashmir Police, he said.
He added that the woman will be handed over to her family after proper counseling.
