A leopard was killed by the locals in the Shopian district of South Kashmir after it mauled nine sheep to death late on Tuesday night.
Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that a leopard attacked several households in the Trenz belt and attacked the sheep at the house of Ghulam Mohamed Mir in the Adura area of Shopian’s Trenz, however the Locals rushed to the spot and the leopard attacked the locals as well.
“The Locals in self-defence attacked the leopard and it unfortunately died in the retaliation when the locals were trying to defend themselves,” the Locals said.
Meanwhile the Wildlife Department has constituted a team to investigate the entire matter.
