Several locals of Maloora area of Parimpora, Srinagar on Sunday blocked Srinagar-Bandipora highway and protested against the Power Development Department (PDD) over shortage of electricity to their area.
Reports reaching news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that around two dozen locals gathered at Maloora and blocked the Srinagar-Bandipora highway while raising slogans against the PDD.
The protesters said that they have been facing an electricity shortage, which prompted them to come out on streets and stage a protest against the department.
“We to have come across a number of problems owing to shortage of electricity in the holy month of Ramadan and the PDD is not paying heed to it,” said the protesters while raising slogans.
Meanwhile police also went to the spot and appeased the protesters, which helped in the resumption of traffic on Srinagar-Bandipora highway. (KDC)
