Massive fire damages mosque, residential house in Tarzoo Sopore

A mosque and a residential structure were damaged during a massive fire in the Tarzoo area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district overnight.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that a massive fire broke out at the Izzat Shah colony in Sopore’s Tarzoo area from a residential house which later spread to the Masjid Mustafa’, causing damage to both structures.

The fire and emergency department immediately rushed to the spot trying to control the blaze during which two firefighters identified as Ali Mohammed Reshi and Wajid Ahmed Dar sustained minor injuries

The duo was rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment, the official said.

“One LPG cylinder also exploded in the incident before the fire was brought under control,” he said.

The cause of the fire is being ascertained, he added.
