She also criticized the Government of India’s selective concern for the rights of Afghan people and denial of the same to Kashmiris.

“GOI expresses concern for the rights of Afghan people but willfully denies the same to Kashmiris. I’ve been placed under house arrest today because according to admin the situation is far from normal in Kashmir. This exposes their fake claims of normalcy,” she said.

It’s pertinent to mention that the PDP Chief had been critical of the government of India’s handling of situation after the Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s passing away on Wednesday. Late Monday evening, mobile internet services were restored across the valley barring two districts – Srinagar and Budgam.

Curfew like restrictions and a communication blockade was imposed all over the valley which was eased later as days passed. Mufti had criticized the GOI for putting Kashmir under communication blockade and yet saying that Kashmir was normal.

On Saturday, she took a jab on the GOI for imposing a curfew in the aftermath of S.A.S. Geelani’s death.

“Instead of reaching out, every successive policy is undertaken to humiliate & collectively punish J&K. These punitive actions compound this sense of betrayal and rage,” she said.

On Sunday, as the reports of Geelani’s family being booked under UAPA emerged, Mehbooba called Kashmir an open air prison and said that it went on to show GOI’s deep rooted “paranoia & ruthlessness.”
