Militant involved in recent civilian killing killed in Pulwama Encounter: Police

One Militant has been killed in the ongoing encounter that raged between militants and government forces in the Wahibug in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

The Jammu Kashmir Police has said that one militant of Srinagar City involved in recent civilian killing, killed in Wahibugh Pulwama encounter.

Earlier a joint team of Army’s RR, Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in Pulwama area.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

The Jammu Kashmir police, on Tuesday, had said that two out of the four cases of selected killings in Kashmir by killing two militants who were involved in the act.

In an encounter at Hajin in northern district of Bandipora, a Lashkar-e-Toiba (TRF) Imtiyaz Ahmed was killed, the police said. “He was involved in the kilingof sumo driver Muhammad Shafi alias Sonu. This way with the elimination of lmtiyaz, the first case of civilian killings stands solved,” a senior police official said.

Similarly, the official said on Tuesday, one of the three militants killed in Shopian encounter, identified as Mukhtar Shah, who was involved in the killing of a non-local vendor at Lal Bazar area of Srinagar. The slain vendor was identified as Virender Paswan of Bihar. “With the kiling of Mukhtar Shah, the second case of targeted killings stands solved”‘ he said.
