A minor girl from Kulgam was recovered from Hyderabad after she was kidnapped by an unknown person, and the accused has been arrested, the police said.
The police in a statement said that on Sunday, police station Mirbazar, Kulgam received a complaint from a person that his 14-year-old daughter is missing and is kidnapped by an unknown person.
The police said that a case FIR No. 55/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation was initiated.
The police said that “during the course of the investigation a team headed by Incharge police station Mirbazar, Kulgam was constituted. Acting on specific leads, the team was able to recover the kidnapped girl from Hyderabad and arrested the accused person who was identified as Gowhar Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Yousuf Mir resident of Lalan Anantnag, the police added.
The police said that he has been shifted to police station Qazigund where he remains in custody. After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl was handed over to her family, the police said.
The police added that further investigation is in progress into the matter.
