Mother of two children tries to jump into river at Anantnag, rescued by locals, Police

A woman was rescued by locals and Policemen after she tried to commit suicide in the Khanabal area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that a 27-year-old woman (name with held) who is a resident of Seer area in Anantnag and married at Shol Batengoo Anantnag tried to jump into the river on Saturday afternoon, however, she was rescued.

He said that the woman, mother of two, had tried to kill herself due to some issues at her in-laws house in Batengoo.

The locals upon noticing her saved the 27-year-old from drowning after which a Police party headed by Duty Officer (DO), Khanabal Police station, Manzoor Ahmed reached the spot.

The Official said that DO Khanabal along with his team rescued the woman and sent her to immediate rehabilitation.

“Husband of the wife has also been called by the Police to ascertain the reasons that forced the woman to take such an extreme step,” the official said.
