The Chairperson of Itehad ul Muslimeen, Moulana Masroos Ansari has been detained on Sunday morning, his party said.
The General Secretary of the party founded by one of Kashmir’s tallest socio-religious leader Moulana Abbas Ansari said that Masoor was detained along with Syed Raman Shamas and other participants of the Eid Milan (Eid gathering) hat was scheduled on Sunday.
Though the Police did not comment on the detention, the spokesperson said, that Moulana Abbas and other participants of this Eid Milan were taken into custody by Kothi Bagh PS police party, said the press release.
Pertinently, several events are being organized in Srinagar and Budgam districts on Sunday to commemorate Eid Ghadeer.
He said that the event was scheduled to take place at Hotel Habib located near the Kothibagh Police Station.
The host of the event was Mohammed Yaseen Bhat was previously affiliated with JKLF. The separtaist organization was banned by Home Ministry in 2019 for its role in “militancy funding” and “separatist activities.”
Meanwhile senior Shia leader Aga Syed Mohammad Hussaini took to twitter to demand the release of Moulana Masroor Ansari.

“The detention of Hujatul Islam Jenab Molvi Masroor Abass Ansari sb is deeply worrisome. I implore the administration to promptly address this matter and ensure his immediate release, alleviating the concerns of his family, relatives and supporters,” he tweeted.
