The IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that the picture of one of the killed #militants in the Anantnag encounter that took place on December 30 matches with JeM top commander Sameer Dar, who was the last surviving militant involved February 14, 2019 Pulwama.

“We are going for DNA sample matching,” IGP Kashmir said.

On March 19, 2018, three youth identified as Tawseef Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar, Adil Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Hassan, and Sameer Ahmad Dar (MSc Geology student) son of Mohammad Subhan Bhat, all residents of Gandibagh Kakapora in Pulwama had gone missing.

Sameer had left for the university and a few days later his photograph with an AK 47 Rifle went viral in 2018 and he had joined Jaish e Muhammad militant outfit.

One of the key accused in the Pulwama attack, Sameer Dar was thought to be killed in an encounter along with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander Mohammad Ismail Alvi alias Lambu on July 31, 2021.

When the security agencies later called his family for identification, it was confirmed the second militant was not Sameer. On closer examination, his photos, too, did not match the body, sources said.
