Murder Case: Five accused arrested in Khablan, 3 still at large, says SSP Rajouri

Jammu and Kashmir Police in Rajouri on Monday claimed to have arrested five persons, related to the murder case of a man in Khablan village of Thanamandi in the district.

Police said that the raids are going on to nab three more accused, who are still at large.

Sharing details about the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, Amritpal Singh said that on 18th of June, a case under FIR number 82/2023 under sections 307/323/147 IPC was registered in Thanamandi Police Station after receipt of written complaint of Nagina Akhtar, wife of Shafiq Ahmed of Khablan village.

“The murderous assault on complainant’s husband was filed against eight accused persons namely Mohd Taj son of Bir Mohd, Javed Ahmed son of Mohd Taj, Mushtaq Ahmed son of Mohd Taj, Ashfaq Ahmed son of Mohd Taj, Qamar Bhatti son of Javed Iqbal, Mohd Farooq son of Basharat Hussain, Mohd Jameel son of Basharat Hussain and Mohd Zaman son of Basharat Hussain,” he said.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), SSP Rajouri further said that the victim Shafiq Ahmed was hospitalised in GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri but he succumbed to his injuries over which section 302 IPC was incorporated in the already registered case.

Over the death of victim during treatment, special police teams headed by SDPO Thanamandi Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed and SHO Thanamandi Azhar Hilal swung into action and conducted series of raids at various locations while five accused persons have been taken into custody and three others are at large, and teams were deputed to arrest them.

SSP Rajouri said that prima-facie some land dispute is suspected to be a cause of this murder act while further investigation as well as legal proceedings are going on into the matter.

The SSP further said that there are constitutional provisions available to deal with any kind of dispute and people should follow the constitutional redressal mechanism and taking law into own hands has no acceptance both in society as well as under law.

He said that action as per the law of land will be ensured against whosoever is involved in the heinous crime—(KNO)
