Muslim family harassed on train in Mumbai, forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans

A Muslim family was forced to chant Jai Shri Ram slogans in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

A distressing 26-second video, reportedly filmed on January 24, has surfaced, depicting a horrifying incident outside the Panvel police station.

The footage captures a Hindutva mob assaulting a Muslim man while his wife and young daughter plead for assistance.

The victim, identified as Asif, narrated the harrowing events that led to the brutal attack. Asif, accompanied by his family, had embarked on a journey from their village in Kankavli to Mumbai on January 19.

However, their train ride aboard the Madgaon LTT Express turned into a nightmare when a group of 30-40 individuals initiated chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ upon spotting them.

Despite Asif and his family maintaining composure, the situation escalated as more people joined in, singing nationalistic slogans.

Asif revealed that his wife, adorned in a burqa, became a target of the mob’s aggression.

Despite his pleas, the harassment persisted, with the perpetrators even resorting to throwing tea at his daughter. Asif lamented, “The TC came, heard us and left. He did not initiate any enquiry against the mob.”

Upon reaching Panvel, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) intervened, but the assailants managed to flee. Asif attempted to lodge a complaint at the Railway Police Station but faced obstacles in doing so. Eventually, he managed to file a report at the Kankavli police station.

However, the nightmare continued for Asif and his family when they were summoned to the Kankavli police station on January 24.

Allegedly, a prominent BJP leader pressured Asif to withdraw his complaint.

Refusing to comply, Asif faced a vicious assault by a group of 15-20 men, who demanded he chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Asif recounted, “My wife and children were screaming for help but no one came forward.”
