Muslim man beaten to death for trying to stop felling of trees in Jharkhand

A man was beaten to death on in Jharkhand’s Gumla district for protesting against the felling of a tree in the area.

Shameem Ansari, the head of Raikera Forest area was lynched by a mob on Friday after he stopped some persons from cutting down trees in the Gumla district.

An FIR has been registered against 35 persons out of which five individuals have been arrested so far.

Gumla Sub-divisional Police Officer Manish Chandra Lal was quoted by PTI as saying that all the accused belong to the same village in Gumla district.
