Muslim Neighbors Take Part in the Last Rites of Pandit Woman in Baramulla

In a heartwarming gesture, Muslims in Tarhama, Kunzar of district Baramulla performed the last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit woman.

 

Rani Kaul, wife of Moti Lal Kaul passed away from a natural death and neighboring Muslims took part in her funeral and helped with performing the last rites of the Pandit woman.

 

Moti Lal Kaul and Raina Kaul’s house, were the only Pandit house in a locality of 500 – 600 Muslims.

 

Commenting further on the communal harmony in Kashmir, a relative of the woman, S. L Raina spoke to The Kashmiriyat and said, “We do not know of anything about the last rites of Rani JI, the local Muslims arranged and provided for everything, I am very thankful to them.”

 

Muslims of the area speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that they want Kashmiri Pandits to return to the valley.

 

“We do not know of any religious discrimination, we always have been one community and no attempts to polarize the local population will succeed,”  a local said.

 

He said that the community irrespective of religion have spent their whole lives as one.
