Several persons were injured during clashes between National conference and Bhartiya Janta Party workers in the Gurez area of Bandipora.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday evening, a cavalcade of the National Conference passing through the Gujran area of Bandipora, was attacked by the workers of the BJP in the area, causing injuries to several persons.

“Around 6:30 in evening, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, (who recently won elections from Gurez on the NC ticket), was on the way to a remote area of Gurez, when suddenly workers of BJP pelted stones on the vehicles, causing damage to vehicles and injuring at least six persons,” the local said.

During the clashes, the government forces rushed to the spot and helped the injured to the spot while also restoring law and order at the spot.

Locals reported that the injured were taken to a hospital for treatment, with three of them being referred to a hospital in Srinagar for further care.

DDC Tulail, Ajaz Ahmad Khan, son of BJP leader Faqeer Khan, responded by claiming that people attending Nazir Khan’s rally had thrown stones at their workers’ homes, inciting them.
