On Thursday morning, the former member of the Jammu Kashmir legislative council and a senior politician from the National Conference from Jammu, Tarlochan Singh Wazir (67), was found dead in Moti Nagar, Delhi under mysterious circumstances.
“He was found dead in the Moti Nagar area of Delhi. His family members have left for Delhi. As of now, we don’t have any other details with us,” a senior police officer said.
As per a report by Hindustan Times, there are reports suggesting that he was murdered but these reports haven’t been confirmed yet. The report also said that Wazir was supposed to travel to Canada but went missing in Delhi on September 2.
Wazir was not only a prominent Sikh leader from Jammu, he was also the president of the Jammu Kashmir Motor Transporters’ Association and fought for their rights.
The NC leader, Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to condole Wazir’s death. He announced that he was shocked and that he had only met him a few days ago in Jammu.
“Shocked by the terrible news of the sudden death of my colleague Sardar T. S. Wazir, ex-member of the Legislative Council. It was only a few days ago that we sat together in Jammu not realizing it was the last time I would be meeting him. May his soul rest in peace,” said Omar.
Wazir was also a close confidante of the Abdullahs. His body has been reportedly sent for post-mortem. An investigation has been initiated into his mysterious death.
