‘Need to unite for Sikh rights’, Amritpal Singh issues a video statement from undisclosed location

A new video of ‘Waris de Punjab’ chief Amritpal Singh has surfaced online, which has been blocked by Youtube in India.

In this short video message that has been shot at an undisclosed location, Amritpal is heard appealing to the Sikh community in India and abroad to “fight against injustice.”

As per media reports, the video is said to be at least two days old.

Speaking of the crackdown and his escape, he said, “If the government wanted to arrest me, I would have surrendered. But, the path followed by the government is not right. They brought thousands of force personnel to Punjab to arrest me, using brute force. However, no one can touch my hair either. Wahe Guru (God) supported me in this difficult journey,” said Amritpal Singh.

In this video, Amritpal Singh says, “The Sikh community needs to unite for a greater cause. The government has oppressed the people, women and children. Even the 24-hour appeal of the Jathedar of Akal Takht was not heeded by the government.”

In the video, Amritpal mentions one of his colleagues. “Bajeke is a typical Sikh. Action has also been taken against him under NSA. Other colleagues have been sent to Assam. The Sikhs who are vocal are being harassed by one or the other means,” said Amritpal.
