No Dead Body Recovered From Kupwara Encounter Site, Fresh Firing Starts

After Conducting search operations for nearly five hours, the Government forces were unable to recover any dead body from the encounter site in Kupwara District.

A gunfight had started between Militants and 22 RR of Indian Army, 92 battalion CRPF and SOG in in the intervening Night of Thursday and Friday at Babagund village of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara District.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that Militants opened fire when a party of joint forces had laid siege to the area following inputs about the Militant movement in the area.

Earlier, it was reported that two Militants have been killed during the ensuing gunfight.

However no dead body has been recovered as of yet from the site of encounter.

Intense clashes had also erupted around the encounter site in the Babagund area.

As per the latest reports available to The Kashmiriyat fresh firing has resumed at the site of encounter.

Journalists are not being allowed to cover the encounter anywhere nearby, a Journalist told The Kashmiriyat.
