The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has announced that Eid prayers will not be held at Srinagar’s historic Eidgah this year, citing ongoing construction work.
Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi confirmed the decision, stating, “Eid prayers will not be held at Eidgah this year due to ongoing construction work.”
While Eidgah has historically been a central venue for large congregational prayers, these gatherings have remained banned for several years, with authorities previously attributing the restrictions to security concerns and other reasons.
Dr. Andrabi added that arrangements have been made for congregational prayers at Hazratbal and other mosques across Jammu Kashmir.
“The biggest congregation will be at Hazratbal. All arrangements have been completed by the Waqf Board in coordination with line departments,” she added.
