The killings happen at a time when the politicians in Kashmir are accusing the BJP Government of creating fake narratives of peace about Kashmir. The People’s Alliance for Gupkar declaration said that BJPs narrative of peace holds no truth. Politicians including Omar Abdullah said that the killings were a major security lapse.
On Sunday, the president of National Conference, Farooq Abdullah remarked, “These killings are unfortunate and done under a conspiracy. Kashmiris are not involved in these killings. It is an attempt to defame Kashmiris.”
Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that immediately after today’s incident of civilian killings, around seventy labourers were shifted to a “Safer Location” in sopore and several other areas of the Kashmir valley.
Reports suggest that many non-Locals are also leaving the Kashmir valley.

Hours after the incident, an order went viral in which the Police directed the DIGs to shift the non-Locals in the region to security establishments. However, the inspector General of Jammu Kashmir Police said that order circulated was fake.
A News report by Reuters quoted him saying, ” he had instructed his officers to move workers after three labourers from the eastern state of Bihar were shot in their rented accommodation on Sunday, two of whom died.”
Thirty-two civilians have been killed in Kashmir this year so far.
The inspector General of Jammu Kashmir Police Vijay Kumar said that the killings were a result of frustration due to the killing of Militants, especially their leaderships, destruction of their support structures and continuous and effective maintenance of law and order.
He added Militant handlers have changed strategy and started targeting unarmed policemen, civilians, politicians, and now people from minority communities including a woman.
“In all such cases, terrorists have been using pistols.

These acts are committed by newly recruited terrorists or those who are about to join Militant rank. In some cases, OGWs (overground workers) have been found directly involved.” Kumar added police were working hard and identifying the terrorists involved. He promised the strictest action.
