‘Not a Single Doctor to Operate Machinery Worth Lakhs’- People Suffer Due to Lack of Basic Facilities at PHC in Ganderbal

Rayees Shah

The residents of Gund and adjoining villages expressed their discontent at the lack of basic diagnostic facilities at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Gund area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

A local, Rayaz Ahmad talking to The Kashmiriyat said that the centre was of no use because lack of facilities and insufficient staff to run the PHC caused the locals a lot of trouble.

He said that only a handful of doctors and staff members were not sufficient for over 30 villages of Gund area.

Ahmad also said that after spending lakhs of rupees for the establishment of an Operation Theatre in PHC Gund, not a single doctor was deployed here to operate the machinery of the Operation Theatre.

The machinery, however, is in use since the day it was bought. He further added that a surgeon is utilised for the Operation Theatre, but the Health Department seems to have forgotten deployment of one.

The residents, here, requested the concerned authorities and the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter and fullfill their demand so they do not face any problem in future
