On the same day, a separate incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district during a Durga idol immersion procession, where a clash ensued between two groups from different communities.
Local police swiftly brought the situation under control in the Srinagar area of the district, detaining three individuals.
The clash reportedly happened as the procession passed through the Srinagar area, with participants playfully throwing colored powder, known as ‘gulaal,’ at each other.
Accidentally affecting a member of another community with the colored powder led to objections and a physical altercation.
Mahoba’s Superintendent of Police, Aparna Gupta, confirmed that there was no major law and order issue, and legal measures were being taken to address the situation.
The procession later continued peacefully, and the Durga idol was immersed as originally planned.
