On UN Day, Imran Khan Calls For Implementation of UN Resolutions on Kashmir

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan has urged the United Nations to exercise its authority and implement the Security Council resolutions in Kashmir.

The president and the premier issued separate statements for United Nations Day which marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the UN and its founding Charter. Imran said that the day was another sombre reminder that the Jammu Kashmir dispute remains unresolved, despite being on the UN’s agenda for over seven decades.

He said that the situation in the valley had been exacerbated by India’s unilateral actions in August 2019.

“Led by the ‘Hindutva’ ideology, the RSS-BJP regime has continued an inhuman military siege and imposed draconian restrictions on freedom of movement and communications,” he said.

“I urge the international community, especially the Security Council, to exercise its moral, legal, political and diplomatic authority to implement UNSC resolutions on Jammu Kashmir.”
