One militant has been killed and two army troopers have been injured in an ongoing encounter at Padgampora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday government forces including RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the Padgampora area.
The operation was launched following an input about militant movement in the area, they said.
During the cordon and search operation, the hiding militants opened fire during which two army troopers were injured.
They said that in the following exchange of gunfire, one militant has been killed, however, the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.
The army troopers have been rushed to the hospital for treatment, they told.
As per the latest reports, the forces are still present in the area, however, no firing has been heard from the last several hours.
