The Jammu Kashmir Police on Sunday evening claimed to have arrested a militant in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
An official said that one active militant Nasir Ahmed Shergojri, who had joined the militancy in 2017 and was one of the longest-surviving Hizb militants was arrested by a joint team of the Indian Army and Police.
Nasir, son of Ali Mohammed, a resident of Shopian’s Homuhuna area was affiliated to Hizb ul Mujahideen.
“Shopian Police & Army arrested one of the longest surviving HM terrorist active since 2017 namely Nasir Ahmed Sher Gojri @ Qasim Bhai S/o Ali Mohd R/o HomHuna Nagbal, involved in various criminal cases. Case registered & investigation set in motion to unearth the terror network,” Police tweeted.
