On Saturday, Union Minister Giriraj Singh expressed regret over the fact that it was not made sure that “only followers of Sanatana Dharma” remained in India during the “Partition based on religion.”
In response to the BJP’s requests for a law for population control, the fiery BJP leader let out his rage over alleged offensive comments about the Hindu community made by Assam leader Badruddin Ajmal.
“In the name of religion, the nation was split. We wouldn’t have to put up with the mistreatment of individuals like Badruddin and (AIMIM chief) Asaduddin Owaisi if it had been ensured back then that only those who adhere to Sanatana Dharma would remain in India,” the Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister said while talking to reporters in Begusarai.
Singh also said that the nation needed to curb population increase.
“It is time for people like Badruddin and others to speak out against China, which has a strict population control law in place for many years. Up until the late 1980s, the GDP of the neighbouring country was lower than ours. Look where they have gotten to so far,” he said.
“No one was spared from China’s population law, including Muslims living there. Even though our region only makes up 2.5% of the world’s total land area, we are home to 20% of the world’s inhabitants. We must manage population increase in order to achieve sustainable economic growth,” Singh added. (With PTI inputs )
