The family of slain Dr. Mudasir Gul, who was killed in Hyderpora Srinagar has said that their call for justice does not end with investigation , but they want the slain’s body to be handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the family of Dr. Mudasir Gul thanked the Lieutenant Governor J&K who ordered a magisterial probe into the encounter.
“A magisterial inquiry by officer of ADM rank has been ordered in Hyderpora encounter. Govt will take suitable action as soon as report is submitted in a time-bound manner.JK admin reiterates commitment of protecting lives of innocent civilians&it will ensure there is no injustice: LG Manoj Sinha,” Office of LG J&K said in a tweet.
Mudasir Gul’s relative Irfan Ahmad told The Kashmiriyat that “We are thankful to Lieutenant Governor, Manoj sinha that he ordered enquiry because what has happened cannot be undone. We just want dead bodies, nothing else, we want to perform the last rites of our kin.”
“If they give the dead bodies back to us, only in that case our protest will end,” he said adding, “some of our family members visited concerned police station and they were told that we are working on it, we hope that the dead bodies will be returned soon.”
Irfan further said that “We are also thankful to Media who cooperated with us and they were constantly present at press colony till late hours as sit-in protest was going on. Media raised our voice and helped it reach the higher ups.”
Earlier, The Kashmiriyat had spoken to officials who said that “The family members were detained given the apprehension of law and order situation in the area. We had assured them that the bodies will be returned on Friday but they were adamant to continue the protests in the press enclave, so action needed to be taken.”
