Encounter Rages in Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed An encounter has broken out between militants and government forces in Wokay (okay) area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday morning, 9 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and 18 BN of CRPF launched a joint launched a cordon and search operation in the Wokay area of Kulgam. 178 fresh covid-19 infections, one new black fungus case reported in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir reported 178 fresh covid-19 cases while there was no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Monday. 70 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu division and 108 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 341802. There was no death reported due to the virus during the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4530 persons—2199 in Jammu and 2331 in Kashmir—have died due to the virus, they said. Members of a right-wing Hindu group allegedly barged into the house of a Dalit family, hurled abuses at them and assaulted them alleging religious conversion. NHPC busy in exploiting the natural resources of JK: Shaheen

JD(U) Party president G.M.Shaheen on Monday castigated government for selling electricity from Kashmir at exorbitant rates to outside states and exacting hefty bills from locals. Shaheen said in a statement that 40% of the total power generated by the NHPC comes from Jammu and Kashmir. In return, J&K get only 12 percent of the royalty. Shaheen said NHPC earned billions of rupees from the sale of electricity generated in the region. Protests in Hajin after the killing of Local militant commander Saleem Parray

Protests hit Hajin, moments after the news of the killing of the local militant commander, Saleem Paray spread in his native. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that scores of people on Saturday evening raising slogans staged demonstrations in the North Kashmir's Hajin town, moments after his killing. Saleem Parray was killed during an encounter in the Shalimar area of Srinagar in a joint operation of Government Forces against the militants.
