Mentally unsound man injured after speedy CRPF vehicle hit him in Sopore

A speeding CRPF vehicle hit and injured a man who is mentally ill in north Kashmir’s Sopore area of Baramulla district on Tuesday. Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that a speedy CRPF vehicle hit and injured a mentally unsound man at Amargrah Bypass in Sopore town. "50-year old Abdul Majeed Najjar son of Mohi u Din Najjar, a resident of MET road Sopore got injured and was brought to SDH Sopore for necessary treatment," reports said. Meanwhile, Police official while confirming the incident said that the injured person is currently admitted in SDH Sopore where his condition is stated to be stable. The officials added that they had taken cognizance of the incident. (KNS)

The employees of the Power Development Department (PDD) in Jammu Kashmir have called off their indefinite strike late on Monday following an assurance from the administration. With the JK administration agreeing to all demands of the employees in principle, employees are currently on restoration work with immediate effect. A Tribunal under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) on Monday sought the stand of Zakir Naik's Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) in proceedings to consider the Centre's decision to declare it as an unlawful association. The one-member Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal, comprising Delhi High Court Chief Justice DN Patel, issued notice in the proceedings after hearing Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who represented the central government. The District Magistrate of Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla on Monday issued orders under Section 144 of Cr PC prohibiting employees associated with essential services including electricity supply, water, etc to refrain from calling any strike in the South Kashmir district.
