Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that the Government Degree College (GDC) in Kelam has been renamed after a slain Police Inspector Altaf Ahmad Dar. Altaf Dar popularly known as Altaf laptop was killed by Abu Qasim after he was chased down by Qasim in Bandipiora in the year 2015. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Asad Saturday said that the non-adherence to Covid Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in Srinagar could possibly become a reason for third wave in Jammu Kashmir. Talking to media persons at commercial Hub Lal Chowk, Asad said that nearly 60 per cent Covid cases on daily basis are being reported from Srinagar district only. Taking note of recent rumours of jaundice epidemic and dengue outbreak in Kashmir valley, the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, hereby clarifies that all such claims are false and baseless. Regarding the rumoured epidemic of jaundice in Habba Kadal, Gadood Bagh, an expert team visited and investigated the cases today. It was found that 3 such cases were reported from 3 different houses with different onset periods having no co-relations to each other. Senior Congress leader Karan Singh wants the new terminal building in Jammu airport to be named after his father, Hari Singh, who ruled the erstwhile princely state before it acceded to the Union of India on various conditions. In Jammu Kashmir, at least 287 suicide cases were reported from the region in 2020. According to the news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the figures regarding the accidental deaths and suicides across India in 2020 were revealed by the National Crime Records Bureau for Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that was released earlier in last week of October. As per the data, Jammu and Kashmir reported 287 suicide cases, including 157 males and 130 females, with a projected mid-year population of 133.4 Lakh. In the Srinagar district, 200 percent increase in the number of suicide cases, with 6 cases reported in 2020 against the 2 cases in 2019.
