Mughal Road Closed, Traffic Restricted To Far-Flung Kupwara area also

Mughal road, connecting Shopian and Poonch-Rajouri districts, was closed after fresh snowfall near Pir Ki Gali along the thoroughfare, officials said on Friday. DTI Mughal Road Qasam Choudhary told GNS that traffic was halted on the road amid snowfall. He said that the road will be reopened once the snow was cleared. The historic road was opened for all types of vehicular traffic on July 5 this year. Prior to it, the road was only allowed to be used for ferrying perishable items, mainly fruits. Meanwhile, Traffic movement in some far-flung areas of Kupwara including Keran, Karna, Macchil, Jumagund, Budnambal and Kumkadi was either restricted or suspended in wake of the snowfall and inclement weather, the officials said. India Requests Pakistan to Let Srinagar-Sharjah Flight Use Its Airspace

India has requested Pakistan to grant overflight clearance to GoFirst airline’s Srinagar-Sharjah flight keeping in mind the larger interest of common people who have booked tickets for the route, government officials said on Thursday. Pakistan on Tuesday did not allow the Srinagar-Sharjah flight to use its airspace, forcing it to take a longer route and fly over Gujarat to reach its destination in the UAE, they mentioned. Jammu Kashmir Education Chamber - an amalgam of all private schools associations of J&K, today called on the government to reopen the schools with immediate effect as the continuous closure of schools is creating huge social, psychological, and academic problems. A 60-year-old labourer died after a glass stack came crashing down on him while unloading the material from a vehicle in the Mattan area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday afternoon. Reports reaching GNS said that Ghulam Qasir, 60, son of Mohammad Jamal, part of a labourer group while unloading glass, received grievous wounds resulting in his on spot death after coming under a mirror stack, falling off the vehicle.
