Situation has escalated for Baba Ramdev since Wednesday, when the IMA (Indian Medical Association) slapped the Yoga Guru with a Rs 1000 Crore defamation notice over his recent statements on allopathy medicines. The IMA had appealed to the PM to take appropriate action under sedition and other charges against Ramdev for "spearheading a misinformation campaign on COVID-19 vaccination". 53 Rohingyas Detained in Hiranagar Jail Test Positive for Covid-19

As many as 53 detained Rohingyas tested positive for COVID-19 during a special three-day testing drive at Hiranagar Jail in Kathua district of Jammu Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday. The drive was started on Monday and the internees screened in batches but all those who returned positive are asymptomatic and were isolated within the holding centre as per the guidelines, the officials said. “A total of 53 Rohingyas were found positive during screening since Monday are asymptomatic. We are keeping a watch on their condition,” Chief Medical Officer, Kathua, Ashok Chaudhary told PTI. Jammu Kashmir has 5 Cases of Black Fungus- India has overall 11,717 Cases- Central Minister

The Centre has allocated to states and Union Territories (UTs) 29,250 additional vials of Amphotericin-B, a key drug to treat raging mucormycosis (black fungus) cases in India for 11,717 patients currently being treated at different hospitals across the country. Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers D.V Sadananda Gowda announced that the additional 29,250 vials of Amphotericin-B were allocated to all states and the UTs and central institutions on Wednesday. Besides this, 19,420 vials of Amphotericin-B were allocated on May 24, and 23,680 vials of the drug on May 21, Gowda informed through his tweet. Jammu Kashmir reports second Black Fungus Death- 8 Suspected Cases

Jammu Kashmir has so far reported eight suspected mucormycosis (black fungus) cases while one more suspected person has died so far, officials said on Wednesday. Among the fresh cases, they said, two are at Jammu, three at Kathua and one each at Reasi, Srinagar and Udhampur respectively. While one death a 40-year-old man from Poonch has been confirmed, another victim is said to be resident of Kathua. “The report of the suspected patient from Kathua as well as eight other patients under treatment is still awaited,” a senior official told “Those under treatment are mostly covid-19 patients,” the official added. The J&K government earlier this week declared the mucormycosis as epidemic disease under Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act 1897. (GNS)

Teenager from Mattan Chowk in Anantnag town Allegedly Commits Suicide

Suhail Dar An 18-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide in the Mattan Chowk area of Anantnag town in South Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that the boy (name withheld) was found hanging in his house by his family members after which they rushed him to the hospital. Journalist and editor in chief of The Kashmir Walla magazine Fahad Shah's maternal uncle passed away on Tuesday morning. Sheikh Ashiq Hussain son of Late Sheikh Rehmat Ullah passed away after a protracted illness at his residence in Srinagar on Tuesday early morning.
