Pakistan targets military stations in Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur, No loss of life: Army

The Headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff confirmed that Pakistan launched an attack targeting military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, located near the International Boundary in Jammu Kashmir.

” Using missiles and drones, Pakistan attempted to strike these key installations, but fortunately, there were no reported losses,” HQ IDS reported.

The threat was swiftly neutralized by the Indian Armed Forces, following Standard Operating Procedures (SoP), utilizing both kinetic and non-kinetic means, the statement added.

The escalation occurred just hours after Pakistan’s earlier attempt to target 15 Indian cities was foiled., NDTV reported.

As per the report, the attacks included heavy shelling along the border in areas such as RS Pura, Arnia, Samba, and Hiranagar, as well as airstrikes on Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu Kashmir.

Indian Air Defence Units successfully intercepted eight missiles fired at these areas.

Around 9 pm, loud explosions were heard across Jammu, followed by sirens and a blackout. Local residents reported seeing streaks of light across the sky, which indicated the interception of missiles and drones by the Indian Armed Forces. With the activation of the air defence system, the sky lit up intermittently, further raising tensions on the ground. Cellphone services were disrupted in parts of the region, hindering communication efforts.

The blackout extended beyond Jammu Kashmir’s border areas, affecting regions in Punjab, including Ferozepur and Gurudaspur, as well as parts of Rajasthan. Additionally, heavy shelling continued along the International Border at Samba, Akhnoor, Rajouri, and Reasi.

This latest attack follows Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes carried out by India against terror bases in Pakistan.

The operation came in response to the recent terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Indian officials have emphasized that the strikes were non-escalatory, precise, and controlled.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan attempted to target military installations across 15 cities, including Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh.

These efforts were successfully intercepted by Indian forces, who also neutralised several Pakistani air defence radars and systems, including those in Lahore, as per the NDTV report.

The Indian government reiterated its commitment to non-escalation, provided Pakistan respects the same principles.
