Police on Thursday claimed to have solved Palhalan grenade attack case by arresting three militant associates of LeT/TRF in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement to GNS, the police said that Joint Parties of Baramulla Police, Army 29 RR and 2nd Bn SSB while on routine patrolling in the area established MVCP/ naka at Wussan Pattan at about 0945 hrs, three individuals were spotted moving towards the naka party in suspicious manner. On spotting the Naka, these individuals made a run for it through the adjacent fields but were tactfully apprehended by the party.
The statement further stated that on their disclosure, two grenades were recovered. These OGWs were later identified as Asif Ahmad Reshi son of Nissar Ahmad Reshi, Mehrajudin Dar son of Sonaullah Dar andFaisal Habib Lone son Habibullah Lone all residents of Gund Jehangir, Hajin, District Bandipora, who as per police are associated with LeT/ TRF outfit.
Upon further questioning and following technical leads, all three were found involved in Pattan grenade attack on 17th November of this year. As per their admission, they had come to Pattan to recce the area to lob a grenade, they said.
Investigation has further revealed that the accused persons were given instructions by the militants across the border and aim behind the attack was to create an atmosphere of fear & chaos and to draw reaction against Kashmiri youth outside UT. All leads are being chased as further investigation is underway, they said.
Case under sections of Indian Arms Act and UA (P) Act Stands Registered against them in Police Station Pattan and investigation set in motion, reads the statement.(GNS)
