Jammu Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party Friday said that the government allowed BJP to celebrate and take out a rally to celebrate the abrogation of the special status of Jammu Kashmir while the same government denied permission to them to conduct a seminar on Saturday (5 August).

Meanwhile, the party president and former chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti alleged that one of their leaders was arrested by Jammu Kashmir police.

“Why is @JmuKmrPolice detaining PDP leaders on the eve of 5th August? Arif Laigroo has been taken by the police in this video. BJP is given a free run to carry out the tamasha of celebrating illegal abrogation of Article 370 in Srinagar. All this is being done to hoodwink the public opinion in the country. Just goes on to expose the facade of normalcy – a fake narrative to justify their illegal actions,” Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.

Earlier, PDP spokesperson, in a statement, said that it had sought permission from district administration Srinagar to hold a seminar/discussion on 5th August 2023 with regards to the viewpoint of the general public on the abrogation of articles 370 & 35 A.

“Our representative was told at around 5 PM on 4th August 2023 that the sought permission is declined without assigning any reason,” read the PDP statement.

The party said that an event at Jawahar Nagar Park followed by a rally to celebrate the abrogation of articles 370 & 35 A from Nehru Park to SKICC has been allowed for which Bhartiya Janta Party had sought permission.

“The dual and dubious approach of administration is strongly condemned by us and this repeatedly vindicates our stand the administration and country both are run not as per rules or constitution but by the political agenda set by BJP,” the PDP spokesperson said.
