People Try to March Towards Shopian Encounter Site, 1 Hit with Bullet in his Head

Intense Clashes have erupted between protesters and government forces erupted in Batagundd area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway.

A Local told The Kashmiriyat that scores of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to intense firing and tear smoke shelling.

In the action of the forces, a total of twelve youth were injured, who have been shifted to the hospital for treatment, among whom two were critically wounded.

One youth identified as Faizan Ahed has been hit by a bullet in his head, he has been shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatment, Sources told The Kashmiriyat.

Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out, a local told The Kashmiriyat.

People in large numbers from adjacent areas shouting pro independence and pro Militancy slogans are trying marching towards the encounter site.

Meanwhile Mobile and Internet Services have been barred in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. (The Kashmiriyat)
