Poet and Activist Varavara Rao Discharged from Hospital

 

On late Saturday night, Varavara Rao, poet and activist was discharged from Nanavati Hospital.

On February 22, the Bombay High Court granted him interim bail on medical grounds for six months.

A bench of Justices S. S Shinde and Manish Pitale ordered that Rao to be discharged from the hospital, depending on his health condition, and released him on interim bail immediately after his discharge on Saturday.

Rao is one of the accused in the Elgar Parishad – Maoist links case and was arrested on June 2018.

Later, he requested the court that he should be allowed to furnish cash sureties until solvent sureties could be found.

On Monday, the court granted his request.
