Police Arrests 5 Gamblers in Kulgam, Recovers Stake Money

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Saturday said that it arrested five gamblers in Kulgam district of South Kashmir and recovered the stake money from the possession of the five.

According to a Police press release, acting promptly upon specific information regarding the gambling in the jurisdiction of police station Qazigund Police party led by I/C PP Mirbazar Sub Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad under the supervision of SHO Qazigund Insp. Irshad Reshi and I/C SDPO Qazigund Surinder Mohan raided the suspected place in village Amaanpora and arrested 05 persons while they were indulged in gambling.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rouf Ahmad Ahangar  R/O Kaatran, Imran Ahmad Bhat R/O Kaatran, Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh R/O Kaatran, Tariq Ahmad Sheikh R/O Aakhran and Mohd Idrees Naikoo R/O Amaanpora Kaatran.

The Stake money of Rs 9020, Four Mobile phones and two sets of playing cards have been recovered from the possession of the arrested persons from the place of gambling.

In this connection, Case FIR Number 48/2021 U/S 13 Gambling Act stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation is in progress.
