An activist, Amandeep Singh Boparai was arrested by police from his home in Jammu on Tuesday morning for hoisting the national flag at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) office in Jammu.
He, along with the local youth, had forcibly hoisted the national flag at Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) office in Jammu. Singh hoisted the flag after PDP Chief, Mehbooba Mufti said that she would not hoist the tri-color until the separate flag for Jammu Kashmir and the special status of the state is restored.
A group of youth activists led by Amandeep Singh organised a rally and attempted to hoist the national flag at PDP headquarters, but were stopped by the police.
Meanwhile, Amandeep has reportedly been taken to Gandhi Nagar police station. Senior police officers refused to divulge any details.
Because of the event, the situation was tense in Jammu for few days and forced Administration for more deployment of troops.
