Police Arrests Two Cops Involved In Issuing Fake Passes to Travellers at Lakhanpur Gateway

The police cracked down a module, involved in issuing fake passes to the people entering J&K via the gateway of Lakhanpur on Wednesday. Two cops who were involved in the process have been arrested.

One inspector was also suspended on the spot for dereliction of duty. The police have also registered an FIR under number 90/20 under Sections 420, 471, 188, 269, 270 IPC against the duo.

SSP Kathua, Shailnder Mishra said that police has received many complaints over the last few days that some police personnel are involved in issuing fake passes to the travellers at Lakhanpur to save their time in checking.

He added that it only takes 10 minutes to complete formalities at Lakhanpur but some travellers do not want to spare any time. The police could not ascertain that who were the cops involved in this racket.

Mishra said that the police team disguised as travellers in civil dress and during the mid-screening at a checking point, one SPO showed his willingness to provide the pass in lieu of money. He handed over the passes to the team and was rounded up on the spot. During frisking, police found an old pass and Rs 400 cash from the ASI, who was also arrested.

He said the police inspector Vijay, who was on duty at that particular point was placed under suspension. The cops were identified as ASI Kishore Kumar and SPO Des Raj.
